The Graduate and Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs of Mount Carmel College of Nursing (MCCN) offers the Direct Admit Pathway for exemplary undergraduate and graduate students who intend to pursue continued educational opportunities in the graduate and/or DNP programs. This pathway is intended for all alumni of MCCN regardless of the year the student graduated.

The benefits of the Direct Admit Pathway include:

  • Streamlined admission process with the elimination of the statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, and video interview
  • Waived application fee
  • Early assurance of admission into the intended program of study for current MCCN students

Wondering if you qualify?

Graduate Program Eligibility
(Adult-Gero Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Leadership-Clinical Operations, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner)

  • Completion of the Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from Mount Carmel College of Nursing or a scheduled graduation date that occurs prior to the start of the intended graduate program.
  • Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale in the baccalaureate nursing program
  • Undergraduate statistics and research courses with a letter grade of “C” or better in both. A grade of “C-” will not be accepted
  • Students awaiting NCLEX testing and licensure may attend the program through provisional admission and are permitted to enroll in graduate core courses up to 9 credits. Active unencumbered licensure is a condition of program completion.

Doctor of Nursing Practice Program Eligibility

  • An unencumbered Registered Nurse license must be presented
  • Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 in the MCCN Graduate Program
  • Admission Criteria for Clinical Practice in Leadership Track
    • Must have Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) national certification as a CNS, NP, CNM, or a CRNA in an appropriate specialty area (Graduate nurses awaiting certification may attend the program through provisional admission and are permitted to enroll in courses up to 9 credits of nursing coursework. Active certification is a condition of program completion).
  • Admission Criteria for Executive Healthcare Leadership or Executive Academic Leadership Track
    • Advanced specialty certification in nursing through a nationally recognized organization is preferred prior to the start of the program, but is not required.

Application Deadlines

The application will be available throughout the calendar year, but you will need to apply for your desired semester and track before the deadline for each semester:

  • Spring Deadline: November 30
  • Summer Deadline: March 31 (DNP only)
  • Fall Deadline: August 1
