Congrats 2019 Graduates!

This past weekend was chock-full of exciting events celebrating the Mount Carmel College of Nursing Class of 2019, with the Graduate Program Blessing and Recognition Ceremony on Thursday, Baccalaureate Pinning and Presentation of Student Awards on Friday, and Commencement on Saturday. Nationally recognized nurse executive Margaret L. McClure, EdD, RN, FAAN, served as Speaker during Commencement, where 241 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees were conferred. Congratulations to the most recent MCCN alumni!

2019 Ann E. Schiele Senior Writing Award

Congratulations to Alicyn Otto, winner of the 2019 Ann E. Schiele Senior Writing Award. Otto’s outstanding senior paper, “Combating Ageism” was selected by MCCN faculty, who look for the highest standards of content and format when choosing the winning paper. Otto received $500 for her winning paper.

“I knew I’d get the most out of my nursing career here,” says Otto who transferred to MCCN from Cleveland State University. She improved her writing and APA formatting skills through practice.

“Writing is a good way to get your thoughts into words and learn how much these topics are important to you,” Otto says. “APA is so important here because all of the papers are required to be in that format. I’m sure graduate school will be the same.” She encourages current and future students at MCCN to: “Put a lot of time into schooling. Don’t put off studying or writing these papers.”

INTRODUCING: The NEW Second Degree Accelerated Program-HYBRID at Mount Carmel College of Nursing

Do you know of someone who is ready to pursue a new career as a professional nurse, but prefers to maintain employment or other obligations while working toward a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree?

Our highly sought Second Degree Accelerated Program (SDAP) is now available for busy adults who want to maintain full- or part-time employment or maintain life balance while answering their life’s calling to a career in nursing. Our new SDAP-Hybrid (SDAP-H) at Mount Carmel College of Nursing is highly flexible and especially designed to meet everyone’s needs! In just 18 months students can earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and start the career of a lifetime.

The MCCN SDAP-H prepares graduates to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), administered through the Ohio Board of Nursing.

SDAP-Hybrid offers:

• A unique hybrid of online and face-to-face instruction
• Designed for the busy lifestyle: Life balance between personal and professional obligations
• Same student learning outcomes, courses, and laboratory and clinical experiences as our full-time SDAP program
• Evenings and weekends for classes, lab and clinical experiences
• Personalized instruction
• Manageable increments for student coursework
• Same admission requirements as our full-time SDAP
• Completion within an 18-month time period
