SNAM-Lancaster Students Serve As Easter Bunnies
Students from the Student Nurses Association at Mount Carmel-Lancaster delivered Easter Baskets for the units at Fairfield Medical Center where they attend clinical rotations. "We did this to say thank you for welcoming us onto their unit and to thank them for their hard work and kindness, especially during the past year," senior Abbey Kunkler said. Students assembled 10 baskets and included extra candy and goodies to send to additional areas for staff at the front desk, simulation lab, environmental services and the cafeteria/nutritional services.
Farewell to Faculty
Faculty members Margaret Stinner, MS, RN, assistant professor, and Tracy Riley, PhD, APRN, CNS-CNE, professor, will be parting ways with MCCN at the end of the academic year.
Margaret will be retiring after 46 years of teaching at the School and College as a beloved instructor. Former MCCN student, Fadumo Jama Aden, says Margaret inspired her to pursue a future in nursing education and she will be starting her master’s program in May.
Dr. Riley will be pursuing new opportunities to develop her skills as a doctorally-prepared Clinical Nurse Specialist. She had this to say about her time at MCCN:
“One of my highlights was being selected as a Faculty Fellow. The energy I felt learning from and being challenged by my fellow Faculty Fellows was incredibly stimulating.” She added, “I will remember my time at MCCN fondly and look forward to continued success for the MCCN community.”
Best wishes to both!

Attention Faculty: Scholarly Activity Reporting
Have you performed scholarly activity, such as writing an article or giving a presentation? We would love to know about it and celebrate you! Susannah Townsend, MPH, director of Institutional Effectiveness, has shared access to the Scholarly Activity Report form at the recent Faculty Senate. Completing this form will help the Research and Scholarship Committee calculate the ratio of faculty who are involved in scholarly activity at the College. Plus, College Relations will mention your accomplishment in The Carmel Rapper, giving you the accolades you deserve.
Digi-Know: Notes from you Instructional Designer
Digi-Know that MCCN owns a 3D printer? 3D additive manufacturing is growing within Healthcare, creating products for both patients and healthcare workers. For example, 3D printing is being used to create personalized implants for knee replacements and similar surgeries. How can 3D printing be utilized to make learning tools for students? Email ideas to Instructional Designer Thomas Liwosz at helpline@mccn.edu.
