The class of 1963 is the 50-Year Honor Class this year.

Members are following a fairly new tradition among Mount Carmel's 50-Year Honor Classes by establishing a scholarship for nursing students. Last year's honor class contributed about $4,000 to a scholarship fund.

The class of '63 has designated its funds to be in memory of their deceased classmates.

Members of the class will be able to designate their Phone-A-thon donations toward this fund.

The class plans to be represented at the College Scholarship Dinner on August 26, when it will present the scholarship to a Mount Carmel nursing student.

"Classmates love knowing that they are paying forward for nursing education at the Mount," said Alumni Relations Coordinator Phylis Motz Crook, a member of the class of 1963.
