The 50-year Honor Class – the Class of 1966 – enjoyed Homecoming activities.
Honor classes (every five years), represented by these attendees, took center stage at Homecoming.
Once again, Dorothy Gorenflo Cluff (’42), donated her unique talents to design and create a beautiful quilt, which was raffled to raise funds for student scholarships.
Dr. Wynd congratulates Distinguished Alumna Gail Petit Hornor (’80), DNP, CPNP APRN, SANE-P, on being recognized for her outstanding career. Gail currently coordinates the Pediatric SANE (Sexual Abuse Nurse Examiner) team Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where she also is a pediatric advanced nurse practitioner for The Center for Family Safety and Healing. After earning her Diploma at Mount Carmel School of Nursing, Gail completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Franklin University in 1990 and a Master of Science in Nursing from Wright State University in 1992. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from The Ohio State University in 2011. Gail is involved in the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNP) and served as president of the Ohio chapter. She also co-chaired NAPNP’s national-level interest group on Child Maltreatment and has served on the national board for the International Association of Forensic Nurses. Gail has published more than 20 articles in peer-reviewed publications discussing her research and various aspects of maltreatment of children, primarily sexual abuse.
“Thanks for the Memories” was the theme for the 2016 Mount Carmel Alumni Association Annual Meeting and Homecoming. MCCN President Christine Wynd, PhD, RN, who gave keynote presentation, offered a warm welcome to the more than 115 attendees. Jill Young Wallace (’73), clinical project liaison, Mount Carmel Health System, provided an update on the upcoming transformation of Mount Carmel West and Mount Carmel Grove City. Several of the classes made a weekend of the event, holding class brunches and dinners in addition to the main event.
Your Alumni Association outgoing president, Jill Trego Rill (’77), RN, gave the annual report. Debbie Dunn Boggs (’75), director, Alumni Relations office, discussed various alumni volunteer opportunities and upcoming alumni activities and events, which are also on the website.
Co-chairs Michele Uhl Born (’75), BSN RN, and Melissa Stacy Cull (’05 and ’12), MSN, RN, worked very hard to ensure an enjoyable time for returning alumni.
