Mount Carmel College of Nursing announced today the appointment of Kathleen M. Williamson, PhD, MSN, RN, as MCCN’s new academic dean. Dr. Williamson will officially join MCCN in January 2019.
Dr. Williamson brings extensive experience to Mount Carmel as an innovative leader in key focus areas including higher education, nursing education and the integration of technology and evidence-based practice within key academic, community and health care stakeholder groups.
In her role with MCCN, Dr. Williamson will be responsible for the overall leadership of undergraduate and graduate academics, student academic support, and student affairs programs – including monitoring the quality of instruction, enhancing current programs and developing new initiatives for academic programming and student engagement. Working closely with MCCN faculty, staff and students, Dr. Williamson will be a tremendous asset to MCCN as the organization continues to embark on the Journey of Transformation and Strategic Plan implementation.
Dr. Williamson currently serves as chair of the Wilson School of Nursing with Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. She is also a nursing education consultant; and holds many community and professional leadership roles including with The Ohio State University Center for Transdisciplinary Evidenced-based Practice (CTEP), the Council for Undergraduate Research (CUR) and the Texas Nurses Association. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and is a noted presenter.
Dr. Williamson earned her PhD in Health Policy from the University of Delaware; an MSN in Nursing Education from Wilmington University; a BSN from Wilmington University; and an ADN from Vermont College.
