Mount Carmel College of Nursing Students Honored at 2011 Commencement Exercises
Record number receive Master’s degrees on May 7

Columbus, Ohio…Mount Carmel College of Nursing (MCCN) celebrated the achievements of graduating students at ceremonies held on Saturday, May 7 at First Church of God in Columbus. Among them, MCCN’s largest graduating class of Master of Science students.

A total of 162 students received Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees which included both pre-licensure and RN-BSN Completion students. Thirteen students received Master of Science (MS) degrees in nursing, the largest number of graduates since the program began in 2003. The very first graduate of the Nursing Administration graduate track was also celebrated.

“We are so proud of our students and the achievements they have accomplished during their tenure here at Mount Carmel,” said Ann Schiele, PhD, RN, President/Dean, Mount Carmel College of Nursing. “These are men and women who pursued their goals of becoming professional registered nurses or nurses who chose to advance careers through graduate studies in nursing.”

MCCN has experienced record growth in the last decade, with enrollment numbers at more than 850 students. Founded by the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1903, MCCN is among the largest baccalaureate nursing programs in the State of Ohio.

Mount Carmel is a specialized institution of higher education, offering the following programs: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Adult Health, Nursing Administration, Nursing Education and Family Nurse Practitioner, and a new Online RN-BSN Completion Program. The College is affiliated with the Mount Carmel Health System, which operates four hospitals and several medical facilities in central Ohio.
