What inspired you to become a nurse?

From the age of four, I knew I was destined to be a care provider. It's not just a profession for me—it’s who I am. Growing up, I found myself drawn to helping those around me. As I got older, that natural inclination toward caregiving only deepened, and nursing is a great pathway to channel that passion into something meaningful.

What do you love about teaching?

What I love most about teaching is being able to facilitate both the personal and professional growth of our students. It’s incredibly fulfilling to watch them evolve, gaining the knowledge, skills, and confidence to step into their own as compassionate, competent nurses. I see myself as more than just an instructor; I strive to be a mentor, guiding my students to not only succeed in their education but to grow as individuals who will make a lasting positive impact in healthcare. The joy of seeing them step into the world with a sense of purpose and pride is immensely rewarding.

What is the best thing about Mount Carmel College of Nursing?

The best thing about Mount Carmel College of Nursing is undoubtedly the people and the mission. When you walk into the building, you can feel the deep sense of history and tradition that has shaped the college into what it is today. It’s a place where everyone—faculty, staff, and students alike—shares a common commitment to excellence and compassion. The college’s mission to not only educate but to inspire a deep sense of service in the field of nursing resonates deeply with me. It is an honor to be part of such a dedicated community, and I feel privileged to contribute to its legacy.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

The best advice I ever received was simple but powerful: “Grace wins.” In life, we often face challenges, conflicts, and situations that require more than just skill and knowledge; they require grace. Whether it’s extending compassion to a difficult patient or finding understanding with a colleague, grace has the power to transform difficult moments into opportunities for growth and healing. It has become a guiding principle in my professional and personal life, reminding me that kindness, patience, and empathy can make all the difference.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in nursing?

Nursing is the hardest work you will ever do, but it is also the most rewarding. It requires resilience, dedication, and a deep well of compassion. It’s a profession that often demands a lot of physical and emotional energy, but the impact you make on the lives of your patients is immeasurable. To be a nurse is to be a constant presence of support and care during a state of need. My advice is to embrace the challenges, remain open to learning, and remember that it is a privilege to care for others in their time of need. If you are called to this work, you will find purpose, fulfillment, and a profound connection to the people you serve.
