What inspired you to become a nurse?

I became interested in nursing once addiction started to become prevalent in my surroundings. The stigma against substance use disorder motivated me to want to help those who are struggling with this disease. Listening to these individual’s stories, where they came from, the hardships they’ve endured, and still seeing their willingness to accept help is extremely inspiring and admirable to me.

What is the best thing about Mount Carmel College of Nursing?

I like MCCN’s small class sizes and have made some good friends.

What are your goals for your nursing career?

My career goal is to work as a psych nurse in an addiction recovery center. I would eventually like to go back to school and become an NP.

What advice would you give your younger self?

If I could, I would tell my younger self to stop worrying so much and to try to be a little more confident. I would also say to put more effort in living in the present instead of ruminating on the past or stressing out about the future.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in nursing?

I would tell someone considering a career in nursing to establish a healthy level of patience and be open to constructive criticism. These traits will make nursing school a lot easier to get through.
