Awa Ndiaye

As part of our ongoing series to profile faculty, staff and student representatives, our second feature this month is student Awa Ndiaye.

Name: Awa Ndiaye.

Nickname: Eva (Awa means Eve from Adam and Eve).

Hometown: Dakar / Senegal (West Africa).

I can’t live without… my family and the internet.

If I could spend the day with one person it would be… my best friend.

If I could travel anywhere, I would go to… the Bahamas.

When I have down time I… go out with my family, explore new places with my children.

My favorite movie is… Pretty Woman.

The quote I tend to live by is… “We may stumble and fall but shall rise again; it should be enough if we did not run away from the battle.” —Mahatma Gandhi.

After I graduate, I want to be… a mother/infant nurse and later a nurse practitioner.

I want to be a nurse because… I am a caring person who loves working with people and having a positive impact in their lives.

I love Mount Carmel because… it offers an excellent nursing education and has one of the best programs available in Columbus.

The best piece of advice I have ever been given was… “Focus on what's right in your life instead of what's wrong.”

The coolest thing that has ever happened to me was… having dinner on top of the Eiffel Tower.

One thing you may not know about me is… I used to be a world traveler (France, Spain, England, Iceland, Canada, Morocco).
