I can’t live without… chocolate!
If I could spend the day with one person it would be… my dad, who passed away 13 years ago at age 54 from lung cancer.
If I could travel anywhere, I would go to… the Dominican Republic on a medical mission trip.
When I have down time, I… spend time with my husband and two boys.
My favorite movie is… Patch Adams.
The quote I tend to live by is… “So I say to you, ask and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you” - Jesus Christ.
I am a nurse educator because… I love to see students learn and then apply their knowledge to provide awesome patient care!
The best advice I could give to incoming freshmen is… to realize that humans learn more from our mistakes than if we do something right several times. Nursing school is hard for all students and most do not get through the 4 years without a bad exam grade or an unsatisfactory grade in lab or clinical. If this happens, don’t be too hard on yourself, just view it as a learning opportunity and figure out how to prevent it from happening again. Often, I remind students of this quote by John Maxwell, “A man must be big enough to admit his mistakes, smart enough to profit from them and strong enough to correct them.”
One thing you may not know about me is… that I love to golf. I cannot hit the ball and leave with blisters on my thumbs from swinging the club so many times, but I still enjoy every minute of it!
