Starting this month, we’ll all enjoy seeing a familiar face making rounds at the College, visiting and meeting with MCCN students, and touching base with faculty and staff. Kathy Espy, director of Community Engagement for Mount Carmel Health System, has agreed to help through the period of transition. Because of her wonderful reputation of service to students, she was requested to spend one to two days per week advocating and providing support for students.

Kathy’s association with MCCN began nearly 27 years ago when she served as a member of the then new Board of Trustees for the College. Her advocacy to support minority students in their journey to become professional nurses led to a leadership position at MCCN as director of Diversity and Inclusion, a position she held until last year, when MCHS called upon her to work at the System level to foster community engagement and relationship building. While on staff at MCCN, Kathy developed our notable Learning Trails program that not only supports and encourages students, but also has contributed to the College’s growth and success.

Watch for Kathy as she rounds throughout the College; she will send out weekly announcements regarding her hours. She encourages students to stop her in the halls or schedule to make appointment to meet in her office on the 2nd floor CLE, by calling 614.546.3359 or emailing her at kespy@mchs.com.
