What inspired you to become a nurse?

I chose a nursing career because I have a heart for serving people and a love of the health sciences. I love meeting new people and being there for them in their best and worst moments—it is truly such an honor. I am also drawn to the opportunities for growth, traveling, and specialty options that are available to nurses!

What is the best thing about Mount Carmel College of Nursing?

I chose MCCN because of its incredible NCLEX pass rate and the emphasis it puts on its students. MCCN sees its students beyond just their role as student nurses and truly cares about them mentally, physically, and spiritually. I value the small class sizes and the opportunity to get to know your professors and classmates on a more intimate level.

What are your goals for your nursing career?

After graduation, I plan to work at Fairfield Medical Center as a Labor and Delivery Nurse. I then plan to continue my education to become an OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner!

What advice would you give to your younger self?

I would advise my younger self to care for myself like I would my patients. Taking the time to care for myself and show myself the same love and compassion that I show others makes me a better nurse!

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in nursing?

I would advise anyone considering a career in nursing to shadow a nurse and work as a nursing assistant first. It gives you an insight into what health care looks like, even if you aren't in the specialty yet. Working as a nursing assistant made me even more passionate about becoming a nurse!
