What inspired you to become a nurse?

Growing up, I wanted to become a teacher. I love education and seeing people’s “light bulb” moments. In high school, I started to gain an interest in the medical field. Nursing is the perfect career for me because I will get to work in the medical field while also providing patient education often!

What is the best thing about Mount Carmel College of Nursing?

For me, it’s the professor and faculty support. I have been—and continue to be—amazed at the amount of support and help I have received from my professors, clinical instructors, and student instructors. My education has been enriched and my experience made overall more enjoyable thanks to the college-wide support!

What are your goals for your nursing career?

After earning my BSN, I would love to explore Mount Carmel’s master’s program. I think becoming an FNP would be great because I would get more opportunities to educate patients.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Things will all work out in the end. Making my college decision was very stressful for me. Like everyone else, I could not see into the future. I would tell my younger self that regardless of my decision, I was taking a step forward. Keep moving forward!

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in nursing?

I would highly recommend shadowing someone in your desired field. I had the opportunity in high school to intern with Marietta Memorial Hospital for a week in different medical fields. This was great exposure to all the different medical careers and played a major role in helping me decide to pursue nursing.
