What inspired you to become a nurse?

My mom has been a nurse for Mount Carmel for 20 years. Her advice helped guide me into a nursing career. I loved hearing her stories of the people she grew close to, patients and coworkers alike. I love science, chemistry, and people, so I knew nursing would be a good fit.

What is the best thing about Mount Carmel College of Nursing?

I love how MCCN has sims manikins for everything: OB, peds, adult. Its labs and sim centers really drew me to the school.

What are your goals for your nursing career?

I would love to be a critical care nurse in the Critical Care Unit. I currently work on this unit as a tech and would love to become a nurse here. The staff and patients are amazing.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Don't waste time on people who won't give you their time.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in nursing?

Get a job as a Multi-Skilled Technician or Nursing Assistant prior to college. Many people find out that nursing is not for them, but techs get a firsthand view of a nurse's job. It can really help if you are on the fence about nursing.
